“Disclosure” Spring/ Summer ’27, investigates and reimagines cultural assimilation through sheer fabrics and bold silhouettes, and uses symbolic and thematic links to alien crash sites, meteor impacts, emigration, and Mexico/ US border crossings. Within this collection Mills utilizes material transparency, optical mixing, and moiré effects to create inhabitable talismans, where within each, the wearer and the spectator can inspect one another’s social belonging overtly. Through material and philosophical play, Mills continues to explore cross-cultural communications in “Disclosure” and its works. Additionally, seeing clothing as armor, Mills investigates, inverts and perverts the relationship between feminine vulnerability and masculine strength as bodies are showcased and physically illuminated in sheer garments.

In part, “Disclosure” responds to the futility and emptiness of cultural assimilation, reverting shame, otherness, and queerness into a richness of self-acceptance which reverberates throughout the collection becoming bold in color and form: a bright offering of the symbolic victory of acceptance.

Ultimately, these works are an attempt to create talismans of hope, where in their color, texture, and forms are humble offerings to the promise that “life is worth loving.” Truly they are pleas to create inspiration for self and spectator.
